My First Day in My School

Let me just say WOW! I absolutely loved my first day in the school I will be doing my praticum yet. I had a chance to meet teachers from all grades and got to observe and even help out a little bit in classrooms.  My highlight was getting to read a story to a kindergarten class the story ” Here’s to You” was a beautiful book that I would love to add to my collection one day.  The day positively flew by , I couldn’t believe when the recess bell rang it felt like I was just getting started, I wanted to keep going I was seeing so many new things and I wanted to explore them all! I loved seeing the variety of app’s used by different grades for different subjects, seeing students interact with technology the productively and that easily had me in awe. I really want to learn to work with one app that I saw today that allows the students to write , type or draw then share their results on the board using an Apple TV, this will be great to become more familiar with over the course of the year because it is something I can see my self using in my own classroom one day and something I would really like to try on my praticums this year.  I can’t wait to get back into the school next week ! I’m very glad to be at such a welcoming school not only were the SA’s welcoming, the whole staff seemed excited to meet us and have us in the school answering my questions about every thing from their programs as I was trying to make senes of the class room to how the school operates.

One Response to My First Day in My School

Hi Amanda, it sounds as though you had a terrific day and were actively involved in observation! The app you’re talking about might have been ‘Explain everything’ or ‘ShowMe’. If it’s something else, please do share. I find these ‘whiteboard’ style apps highly useful for multimodal formative assessment, student sharing and student content creation! Thanks for posting the photo! I am looking forward to a longer visit on another practicum day.
